Open Positions

The LIS (Laboratory of Intelligent Systems) is recruiting for several positions:

Postdoc in Multifunctional Drone Design

The EPFL Laboratory of Intelligent Systems (Prof. Dario Floreano, http://lis.epfl.ch) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in drone design. The project will consist in the design and prototyping of multi-functional drones. Applicants should have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Aeronautical Engineering, or Robotics and demonstrated realisation of robotic systems.

The position is available immediately. Candidates should send an email to Dario.Floreano@epfl.ch with a CV, cover letter, contact of two references, and full list of publications with copy of 2-3 most representative ones. Only selected candidates will be contacted for an interview. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.

Postdoc in Evolutionary Computation / Robotics

The EPFL Laboratory of Intelligent Systems (Prof. Dario Floreano, http://lis.epfl.ch) invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship to study open-ended evolution of soft multi-cellular robots. The project will include modelling and simulation of soft-bodied systems. Applicants should have published in the field of evolutionary computation and have demonstrated programming skills.

PhD in Multi-Modal Aerial Robots

The EPFL Laboratory of Intelligent Systems (Prof. Dario Floreano, http://lis.epfl.ch) invites applications for several PhD fellowships  in design and prototyping of multimodal and adaptive flying robots. We aim at developing robots that achieve the agility of birds when they fly through narrow passages or land and walk on tree branches. Such robots would be able to fly and reach destinations that no other robot can.

Candidates should have a master degree in fields related to Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Micro-engineering. Previous exposure to drone design and control is an advantage. Candidates should apply to the EPFL Doctoral School in Robotics, Control, and Intelligent Systems and mention this position in the application letter. For more details please check: http://phd.epfl.ch/application. Women are strongly encouraged to apply.
