On 8th October 2016, the world’s first Cybathlon took place in Zurich, Switzerland. The Cybathlon is a competition for people with disabilities using robotic assistive aids to complete tasks of everyday life with the aims of removing barriers between people with disabilities, the public and technology developers. NCCR Robotics is proud to have been the presenting sponsor, with the idea having come to co-director Robert Riener directly out of NCCR Robotics activities.
