The robot Cellulo is being specifically developed within NCCR Robotics to be the pencils of the future in classrooms. The idea behind the robot is to make it cheap and easy to programme, such that it can be used by a wide selection of students. The robots are palm sized and modular and are designed to work out their location on a piece of paper, thus meaning that they can be applied to a wide variety of teaching scenarios for kids aged six and over and finally a web portal will be created whereby teachers can share successful activities. Cellulo is currently being tested with school groups – keep checking this space to see when we roll out to schools!
